“Every initiative I lead begins with one question: does this create something that continues to work when I am not in the room? If not, it is not an initiative — it is an event.”

MOS Utility — The Banking Correspondent Network

India’s banking system was never built for its smallest towns. MOS Utility was founded on a single conviction: that every Indian, regardless of pin code or income, deserves access to formal financial services. Through a network of trained Banking Correspondent agents equipped with technology and institutional bank partnerships, MOS Utility has become one of India’s largest BC ecosystems — covering 18 states, partnering with 40+ banking institutions, and processing millions of transactions each month for citizens who had no alternative before.

Initiative 02 · Women-Led Growth

Women at the Centre of Financial Access

Over 60% of MOS Utility’s BC agents are women. This is not a quota — it is a strategic conviction. Women BC agents in rural India demonstrate significantly higher trust levels with female clients, better portfolio health and stronger community integration. The initiative actively recruits, trains and mentors women from Tier 3 and Tier 4 districts, providing them with technology, institutional linkages and business support to build sustainable income-generating enterprises around banking access.

Initiative 03 · Digital Access

Digital Literacy for Rural & Semi-Urban India

A smartphone does not make someone digitally literate. The initiative deploys structured digital education programs at the community level — covering UPI usage, AEPS transactions, mobile banking safety, fraud awareness and government benefit access. Delivered through trained community educators and BC agent networks, the program has equipped over 200,000 individuals with practical digital financial skills, with a particular focus on first-time users and senior citizens navigating digital systems for the first time.

Initiative 04 · Community Capital

SHG Linkage & Community Finance

Self-Help Groups are India’s most underutilised financial infrastructure. The initiative partners with SHGs across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to provide formal banking linkage, group credit access, digital payment capability and insurance products — transforming informal savings collectives into fully integrated financial institutions at the village level. The model creates a flywheel: SHGs with banking access generate individual creditworthiness, which unlocks individual lending, which grows the community’s overall economic floor.

Initiative 05 · Agricultural Finance

Kisan Credit & Agricultural Financial Access

India’s farming communities remain among the most credit-starved segments of the economy — not from lack of credit schemes, but from lack of last-mile delivery infrastructure. This initiative deploys BC agents with specific training in agricultural finance products: Kisan Credit Cards, crop insurance, input financing and post-harvest credit facilities. By combining technology with agronomic understanding, the initiative serves farmers who previously relied entirely on informal moneylenders at exploitative interest rates, replacing them with formal credit at regulated rates.

Aarambh Microfinance · Unnao, UP

Where Every Journey
Has an Aarambh

Aarambh Microfinance was founded on the belief that financial exclusion is not inevitable — it is a design failure. Based in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, Aarambh provides micro-credit, savings linkage, insurance access and financial literacy to women entrepreneurs, small farmers and rural households who lack access to formal banking infrastructure.

The word ‘Aarambh’ means beginning in Hindi — and that is precisely the mandate: to provide the financial beginning that allows families to build, entrepreneurs to launch, and communities to grow. Every loan sanctioned, every account opened, every insurance policy issued is not a transaction — it is the beginning of someone’s economic story.

Through its network of field credit officers, BC partnerships and digital disbursement infrastructure, Aarambh has created a replicable model of responsible microfinance that prioritises client welfare, transparent pricing and genuine financial empowerment over portfolio growth alone.

Micro-Credit Access

Responsible micro-loans from ₹10,000 to ₹2,00,000 for income-generating activities, delivered with transparent interest rates and no hidden charges — primarily to women in rural UP.

🛡️

Insurance Linkage

Every borrower is offered micro-insurance products covering life, health and crop risks — creating a financial safety net that prevents families from falling back into poverty after a single adverse event.

📊

Credit Building

Systematic credit bureau reporting for all borrowers, building formal credit histories that unlock access to larger formal financial products over time — the ladder out of microfinance dependency.

🎓

Financial Literacy First

No loan is disbursed without a structured financial literacy session. Borrowers understand interest, repayment schedules, and digital payment options before accessing credit — reducing default risk and building long-term capability.

The House of Aarambhs · Social Impact

A Community of
New Beginnings

The House of Aarambhs is a social impact organisation built on the understanding that financial access alone is not enough. Economic empowerment requires community, mentorship, network and the lived experience of others who have walked the same path.

The organisation brings together individuals and institutions committed to meaningful social impact — through a membership structure that creates accountability, shared learning and collaborative action around financial inclusion, women empowerment, digital literacy and entrepreneurship.

Members range from individual donors and social entrepreneurs to institutions and corporates seeking to align their resources with verified, grassroots impact programs. Every member tier is designed to enable meaningful participation — not passive philanthropy.

Digital Infrastructure

Taking Digital
Bharat Seriously

India’s digital payment revolution is real — but it has largely bypassed the 650 million citizens who live in semi-urban and rural districts. This initiative builds the infrastructure to close that gap permanently.

📡

AEPS (Aadhaar-Enabled Payment System) Expansion

Deploying AEPS-enabled BC points in villages where the nearest ATM is 15+ kilometres away — enabling cash withdrawals, balance enquiries and fund transfers using a fingerprint and Aadhaar number.

💸

UPI-Based Business Payments for Micro-Merchants

Training rural micro-merchants — chai stalls, kirana stores, tailors, cobblers — to accept digital payments through UPI QR codes, expanding their customer base and reducing cash dependency.

🏛️

Government Benefits Delivery (DBT)

Ensuring PMJDY, PMKISAN, MGNREGS and other government direct benefit transfers actually reach their intended beneficiaries — by creating local touchpoints where they can withdraw, confirm and understand their entitlements.

🔐

Cyber Safety & Fraud Prevention

A structured awareness program targeting new digital users most vulnerable to fraud — teaching them to identify phishing, OTP fraud and fake app scams before they become victims.

From the Ground

Voices from the Field

The most important measurement of any initiative is not a spreadsheet — it is a changed life. These are the people these initiatives were built for.

Before MOS Utility came to our village, the nearest bank was 22 kilometres away. I used to take a day off work just to withdraw my Aadhaar pension. Now the BC agent is three streets from my house. I get my pension every month without losing a day of income.

I started as a BC agent in 2019 with borrowed equipment and no customers. Today I run a full financial services centre — banking, insurance, remittances — and I earn more than any salaried job in my district. My children are in English-medium school because of this business.

Aarambh gave me my first loan of ₹25,000 to expand my tailoring business. Three years later, I have seven employees, a GST registration, and a loan account in a nationalised bank. The loan was the start — but the financial literacy training was what actually changed how I think about money.
