After building a foundation in retail and consumer sales management, Jignesh moved into consumer finance at Barclays — an area sales role covering personal loans and consumer lending products distributed through a network of direct sales associates (DSAs) and retail partners.
The role demanded a different rigor than pure retail sales. Every file mattered, every disbursement carried compliance weight, and channel partners had to be managed not just for volume but for the quality and integrity of the business they brought in.
“Consumer finance taught me that a sale isn’t complete when the file is signed — it’s complete when the customer can actually repay with dignity.”
Jignesh built his area’s DSA network around exactly that principle — recruiting and training partners who understood that sustainable lending volume comes from disciplined underwriting-aligned sourcing, not just aggressive top-line numbers.
It was here that the philosophy that would define his later fintech career first took shape: that financial access, done responsibly, requires the same channel discipline as any other distribution business — just with a lower tolerance for shortcuts.
