The Sakhi B.C. Story

Banking Correspondents,
Reimagined Through Women

After more than a decade building banking correspondent and distribution networks — first in telecom, then in payments banking — Jignesh saw a structural gap that no existing BC model was solving: the agents delivering financial access to rural India were rarely the women who understood that community’s trust dynamics best.

Sakhi B.C. was founded to close that gap directly. The model trains, certifies, and deploys women as Banking Correspondents in rural and semi-urban communities — giving them a professional identity and a sustainable income, while giving their communities a BC point staffed by someone they already trust.

“Every BC network I’ve built taught me the same lesson — trust is the real currency. Sakhi B.C. exists because women are the fastest, most durable way to build it.”

This is not a CSR program layered onto a business. It is the business model itself: dual impact by design. Every Sakhi agent generates income for her household while delivering account access, cash-in/cash-out services, and financial literacy to her neighborhood.

The underlying thesis, proven repeatedly across Jignesh’s career in BC distribution — from Fino’s Money Marts to Airpay’s VYAAPAAR network — is simple: distribution quality is a function of trust, and no one builds trust in a rural community faster than a woman the community already knows.
