Every career has a starting point. For Jignesh Jutthani, it was Geeraj & Company — his first professional role as Sales Executive, taken up shortly after completing his Diploma in Marketing Management from the Welingkar Institute of Management.
There was no team to lead, no zone to architect, no distribution network to inherit. There was only a sales target, a territory to cover on foot, and the discipline of learning how to sell — how to open a conversation with a retailer who had no reason to trust an unfamiliar young sales executive, and close it with a relationship worth returning to.
“You never forget your first sales target. Geeraj is where I learned that selling is a discipline you build one rejection, and one relationship, at a time.”
It was here that the fundamentals were built: field discipline, the patience to make the same pitch better every single time, and the understanding that sales is ultimately a service — solving a problem for the person on the other side of the counter, not just meeting a number.
Every subsequent chapter — Citizen Watch, ICICI Bank, Barclays, Bharti Televentures, Aircel, Uninor, Fino, Airpay, and ultimately MOS Utility as CEO — was built on the fundamentals first practiced here, at the very beginning.
